Who Was Involved in the Project

This project was overseen by James Trimmer, supported by a team experienced in regional refurbishments. Their hands-on coordination, supplier management, and commitment to preserving the building’s charm were key to the successful delivery.

James reflected on this project saying:

“I oversaw the renovation of the iconic Derwent Bridge Hotel, located in Tasmania’s remote Central Highlands. Like other regional projects we’ve delivered, this job came with a unique set of logistical and technical challenges that required thorough planning and hands-on management from start to finish.

The project involved extensive upgrades to the building, including the installation of a large commercial kitchen complete with a full refrigeration system. Working within an existing, older structure meant adapting modern services—such as mechanical ducting—into the original roof space, which demanded a high level of problem-solving and coordination with our design and services teams.

Given the hotel’s remote location, careful scheduling of trades and materials was essential to keeping the project on track. Despite these challenges, we successfully delivered the renovation to a high standard, on time and on budget. The client was extremely satisfied with both the finished result and the professionalism of the project delivery.

The Derwent Bridge Hotel project showcases Falcon Building’s ability to manage complex renovations in regional areas, and our commitment to delivering quality outcomes regardless of location or logistical constraints.”

We also worked with Liam Dingemanse from exceed engineering, reflecting back on this project Liam said that:

“We were engaged as project engineers to support the Derwent Bridge Hotel kitchen redevelopment, providing structural design and input to help deliver a sleek and functional space. It was a great opportunity to collaborate with Falcon Building Group on a remote, fast-paced project. Seeing the finished product in such a unique setting was a real highlight.”
